NATIVE BREED PORK PIES
Pork pies made with North Yorkshire native breed pork, delivered frozen and ready to bake.
PORK PIES HOW THEY USED TO BE
Grid Iron Director, Ian, remembers the smell of freshly baked pork pies coming from the bake house of his father’s butchers shop in the 1970s. That inspired him to produce a range of traditional pork pies made to an original recipe like the ones from his childhood.
We take selected cuts of native breed pork from Taste Tradition’s North Yorkshire farms, mainly Gloucester Old spot, as this gives us the texture and fat content needed to get that traditional pork pie taste. We use shoulder and belly pork for our pie filling and the pastry is an old fashioned hot crust made with lard.
We supply our pies frozen to be baked in your own kitchen, allowing for better management of stock and enabling you to serve them at their best – fresh out of the oven.
Our pies are bigger than standard pork pies, weighing in at around 220g. This makes them a good portion size for even the biggest appetite.
In addition to our traditional pork pie we also have a version with added Yorkshire Chorizo – a perfect pairing that adds an extra dimension to the flavour.
